Abstract
The paper proposes a framework for the integration of tactical and operational optimisation models for the dynamic maintenance scheduling and routing at an offshore wind farm. The tactical optimisation Maintenance Scheduling Model (MSM) finds the optimal schedule for preventive maintenance for a medium-term (monthly) period. The operational Maintenance Routing Model (MRM) is a daily model-based optimisation which considers both preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks. In the MRM, the turbines that need preventive maintenance tasks are determined by MSM whereas the corrective maintenance ones are based on updated information on a daily basis. The MRM aims to generate the optimal routes for the crew transfer vessels to service the turbines along with the number of technicians required for each vessel. In case that in the solution generated by MRM there are some turbines that cannot be maintained due to lack of resources, the monthly maintenance activities are rescheduled by solving the MSM considering the delayed turbines. We develop a mixed integer linear program (MILP) for each model (MSM and MRM) which considers several constraints such as the availability of vessels, the specification of the vessel, and the number of technicians available at the O&M base. The MRM needs to be solved quickly as this model deals with daily maintenance activities. Therefore, we also propose two alternative solution methods for this problem which are based on Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition method and matheuristic approach. The computational analysis reveals that the proposed solution methods produce competitive solutions compared to the exact method.
Key words: Maintenance scheduling, routing problem, offshore windfarm.
