Some stock market experts recognize Elliott Wave (EW) theory as a useful tool for asset price forecasting. The challenge of EW lies in pattern recognition, a hard task due to unpredictable nature of market swings. Research in Computer Science has led to efforts in approaches using an artificial neural network to detection and prediction of market movements. This presentation introduces some challenges in this context including other issues as scalability and performance requirements applied to the development of a hardware accelerator in FPGA.
